FEEL LIKE STEAK?
Monday, July 26, 2010
I just wanted to share with you a quick easy recipe for you to try at your next bbq. If you don’t feel like going out to get a great steak, try one at home!!!
Maytag blue New York Strip with baked potato and grilled veggies
by Corporate Chef, Robert Johnson

Ingredients
16oz New York strip steak (One per guest)
Idaho baking potato wrapped in aluminum foil (one per guest)
Fresh sliced eggplant
Fresh sliced Vidalia onion
Fresh sliced Zucchini
Fresh Sliced Red Peppers
1/4 cup of Maytag Blue Cheese (per steak)
Directions
Fire up the grill and place the potatoes on the middle rack. They will need some time so start them first. You can tell when the potatoes are finished by inserting a fork through the center, if the fork goes through the middle of the potato easily then they are ready to enjoy!
Next take the veggie slices and toss them in some virgin olive oil, salt and pepper, Place the veggies directly on the grill or over some aluminum foil. Be careful not to overcook the vegetables, they are better a little on the firm side to taste the freshness.
Finally it is time to cook the strip steaks. The preferred temperature for the steaks is medium rare but it is up to your own discretion how you would like your steak. Grill them on medium heat (Hint: Use a quarter turn method on each side to form well defined grill marks). When the steaks are just about fully cooked, top with the blue cheese. This cheese will melt very quickly so it is not necessary to leave them on the grill for long. Use the cheese sparingly as it is very strong in flavor.
Enjoy!
